What is a Good URL ?
Lets digg into the facts that we should be aware of for a good URL choice.
Keep the URL short
The shorter the better (I mean the URL). If it is short and can be read in an eye blink then thats a pretty good URL from that point of view. It is easier to read to somebody when necessary, copy-paste and write on a piece of paper when needed. Count all these kind of possibilities of need and you have a good reason in your hand at the end.
URL should describe the Content
Your URL have to give a quick information to the potential visitor about the content he/she is about to get. This will help your URL find the visitors that are really interested in your content where listed or linked. And in many cases interested visitors are all you need.
Keep it static
Most of the CMS (Content Management System) ’s produce some automatic URL’s which includes the characters ?, =, # ect. Try to figure to remove them out with a module or a plug-in that is suitable with the system you are using. There are bunch of available search engine friendly add-ons for nearly every content management system. A static URL is one step ahead when it comes to search engine’s crawling.
